Papan Named Assistant Majority Leader

                                                           Papan Joins Leadership of the Assembly Democratic Caucus

SAN MATEO – Today, Assembly Speaker Robert Rivas announced his leadership team for the Democratic Caucus in the State Assembly.

Speaker Rivas has appointed Cecilia Aguiar-Curry (D-Winters) as Speaker pro Tempore; Stephanie Nguyen (D- Elk Grove) as Assistant Speaker pro Tempore; Isaac Bryan (D- Los Angeles) as Majority Leader; Gregg Hart (D-Santa Barbara) as Assistant Majority Leader; Diane Papan (D-San Mateo) as Assistant Majority Leader for Policy and Research; Lori Wilson (D- Suisun City) as Majority Whip; Matt Haney (D-San Francisco) as Assistant Majority Whip; Josh Lowenthal (D-Long Beach) as Assistant Majority Whip; and Rick Chavez Zbur (D-Santa Monica) as Democratic Caucus Chair.

“I am honored to be named to the leadership team for the Democratic Caucus of the California State Assembly,” said Papan. “I am grateful to Speaker Rivas for his confidence in me and I look forward to working with my colleagues to meet the challenges and seek the opportunities to improve the lives of all Californians.”

The duties of the Assistant Majority Leader for Policy and Research include supporting the Majority Leader’s efforts to represent the Speaker on the Floor including advancing Assembly Floor proceedings and assisting the Speaker and leadership team with program development, policy formation and policy decisions.
